I am working alone. My survey question is easy. “Which color do you like better, red or blue?” I will ask this question in person and a little bit quickly so that the respondent will be pressured into answering off of instinct instead of what they truly believe is their favorite. I will incorporate an interviewer bias by wearing either a blue or red shirt. The population will be Juniors. But in reality this sample is going to be people I know or are at least acquainted with because it would be awkward otherwise. I predict that the response swing will be towards the color of shirt I am wearing at the time of interview.

    1. Yeah, changed my entire project. I aked people if they believed in the apocalypse. I used a wording bias for two different groups. One pressuring the respondent to believe and the other to disregard. I used a Simple Random Sample to choose people on my friends list from fb to ask.

The survey question is "do you like cheezits or goldfish better?" We will ask people whether they prefer cheezits or goldfish. Then we will ask other people whether they like goldfish or cheezits while two of us are eating either goldfish or cheezits. The population will be students in the school, and we will try to get students from freshman-seniors. We predict that people will choose cheezits without a bias, and will pick whichever one we are eating when there is a bias.

I am working alone. I will ask people whether they prefer the SAT or ACT better. I expect that they will answer with the test that they performed better on-- with this, I expect most people to prefer the ACT. I will ask ~30 seniors at random from BHS.

For my project I will be working individually to survey female high school students. I will be asking the question "Do you like shopping at Hollister?" The first time I ask the question, I will be wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants with the hollister logo on them. The next time I ask, I will be wearing my regular clothes. I will be blocking the data into two separate ages: Freshman/Sophomores and Juniors/Seniors. I predict that bias will not be a lurking variable in this experiment especially in the older age group and I expect that the majority of the younger girls will answer "Yes" and the majority of the older girls will answer "no".

    1. Blocking is in experiments only. You are using a stratified sampling method.

For this project I will be working with Meredith Lupini. We will be doing a wording bias by asking people two questions: Brewin' has the best coffee. What is your favorite coffee place, Brewin' or Dunkin'? and Dunkin' Donuts has the best coffee. What's your favorite coffee place, Dunkin' or Brewin'? We expect the results to vary in the favor of the coffee place that was said in the beginning. We expect people to panic slightly and recall the coffee place that they heard first. We will be asking Seniors at Beverly High School that we know or are acquainted with for our population.

  8. For my project I'm working alone and i am asking about 30 people on the track team if they prefer plastic water bottles or reusable bottles. I will ask some with a plastic bottle in my hand and others with a reusable bottle. I expect bias towards whichever I am holding. I understand my sample is biased towards those who run track but I plan to specify that as my population.

  9. I plan on asking questions about violent video games and their effects on children to random people playing said types of games through the Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing games i play. I expect the results to be more biased towards the no category due to the fact that the people who are being asked these questions play violent video games themselves
